Lowestoft & Great Yarmouth Area: Naturists Meet & Greet Event.
There will be a Meet & Greet event on Saturday 28th July to allow local naturists to get to know each other in a social setting. We hope to establish a regular Meet & Greet event and a local pool-swim. This first meeting is open to BN members and non-members alike
Main Event: Meet & Greet. 2 pm – 4 pm. This is a non-naturist event in a public place. Venue: The White Horse Inn, 47 The Street, Corton, Lowestoft. NR32 5HP
[MapCode: GBR YSQ.BC9 GridRef: TM 54302 97477]
This is a nice village pub with parking for about 15 cars. Seating both inside & outside. Serving good food & bar snacks. Kiddies play area. Additional parking nearby at the Sports Ground. See Trip Advisor: ‘The White Horse Lowestoft’ or website: http://whitehorsecorton.co.uk/
Follow-on: ‘Sun-and-Games’ on the Beach. 4 pm – 6 pm. This is a ‘clothes optional’ event.
Venue: Corton Beach (a.k.a. Gunton Sands), about 3⁄4 of a mile south of the pub, on the coastal part of the B1385 (Corton Road) between Corton and Lowestoft. [MapCode: GBR YSQ.ZT0 GridRef: TM 547 965]
There is a free public car park just opposite the beach, on the west side of the road. It has a 2.1 m height restriction. There are signs at the entrance saying, ‘Dip Farm Pitch and Put’. [MapCode: GBR YSQ.ZC9 GridRef: TM 54570 96323]. To get to the beach, cross the road, walk down the concrete path onto the beach and turn left walking for about 200 yards.
Weather depending, we can have a couple of hours sunning ourselves and/or playing field games such as Beach-Ball Volleyball, Petanque, Badminton & Kuub. Please bring other games.
Note: The amount of sand-cover on this beach is variable and some sections may be more pebble than sand, so it is advisable to bring stout shoes (i.e. trainers rather than flip-flops).
More information on this beach can be found on the British Naturism (BN) website at: https://www.bn.org.uk/activities/placestogo/beaches/gunton-sands-corton-beach-r78/. Quote: “This beach became ‘de-designated’ as a naturist beach on 1st November 2009. However, the byelaw requiring clothing to be worn on all beaches except Corton was revoked on 1st June 2009 therefore one can be unclothed on all beaches within the Waveney District without being in breach of the byelaws”. The beach is in regular use by local naturists. The local constabulary have advised that it would be absolutely fine for naturists to play games like volleyball, rounders etc. on this beach.
